Gawker Media Selects Cylogy for Expert Blog Consulting
SAN FRANCISCO — June 07, 2004 — Cylogy, Inc., a full service content management and web applications consulting agency, today announced that cutting-edge blog publisher, Gawker Media, has selected the company for blog optimization and web content optimization services.
Cylogy will be implementing specialized search and related functionality based upon the popular Lucene full-text search engine. Lucene's Perl offshoot, PLucene, will be used as the foundation for the project.
"Blog content is typically meant to be consumed in a rapid-fire, chronological manner. This presents unique challenges for publishers who have large quantities of monetized content. They need to both provide efficient access to older content and to maintain content value over an extended life cycle. We're helping Gawker find innovative ways of leveraging search technology for these purposes," says Brice Dunwoodie, President Cylogy, Inc. and web content management specialist.
"What makes Gawker an interesting case is both the enormous amount of traffic the websites see and the fact that as a company, they are way out in front in terms of building business models around blogging," continues Brice.
Cylogy has extensive experience with both the business and technical aspects of blog publishing and has consulted with Gawker Media and similar publishers on a variety of topics, including publishing and web content management infrastructures, customized search and navigation tools, search engine and Google optimization, and enhancing web content life cycles.
